Viking has been named to TIME’s 2026 TIME100 Most Influential Companies list, a recognition that highlights the company’s push against standard travel industry trends. The organization placed Viking in the “Disrupters” category, a group of companies noted for redefining their sectors and challenging conventional approaches. Separately, Viking also appeared on the TIME100 Companies: Industry Leaders list for Travel & Tourism, which identifies the ten most influential businesses shaping that sector in 2026.
A Focus on the Destination
“To be recognized by TIME as one of the world’s most influential companies is an incredible honor,” said Torstein Hagen, Chairman and CEO of Viking. He explained that the company has operated differently since its 1997 inception. Viking focuses on the destination rather than trying to serve every possible traveler need. Hagen added that the company is proud its “contrarian approach continues to resonate with our guests, the industry and prestigious publications like TIME.”
TIME compiled the list by polling a global network of contributors and correspondents, along with outside experts. Editors evaluated nominations based on impact, innovation, ambition and success. The result is a group of businesses helping to chart a path forward.

Recent Industry Recognition
The latest accolade adds to a long list of honors for Viking. The company was rated #1 for Oceans and #1 for Rivers by CondĂ© Nast Traveler for the fifth consecutive year in the 2025 Readers’ Choice Awards. Viking is also a “World’s Best” selection by Travel + Leisure, a distinction no other travel company has achieved simultaneously with CondĂ© Nast Traveler. Recently, the Viking Vesta was named to CondĂ© Nast Traveler’s 2026 Hot List.
Viking also earned eight awards in Cruise Critic’s 2025 Best in Cruise Awards and received top rankings from U.S. News & World Report for the fifth year in a row as “Best Luxury Line,” “Best Line for Couples” and “Best Line in the Mediterranean.” The company received a “Recommended” rating for its ocean ships in Forbes Travel Guide and was named AOL’s Best Cruise Line for 2025. Additionally, Viking ranked #1 in seven categories in USA TODAY 10BEST 2026 Readers’ Choice Awards and received top honors from Southern Living for both its river and ocean voyages in the publication’s 2026 cruise rankings.
This sustained level of recognition suggests that the industry’s shift toward more specialized, destination-focused travel is gaining momentum. Viking’s specific strategy of limiting the number of ships to avoid overcrowding appears to be setting a standard that competitors are now struggling to match.
