SWISS delays Zurich-Dubai flights to late November

Travelers planning to fly between Switzerland and Dubai this winter are confronting another schedule adjustment. SWISS has moved its Zurich-Dubai flight resumption from 27 October to 25 November 2026, attributing the delay to unstable conditions in the Middle East. The airline confirmed this change on 23 October following discussions with the Lufthansa Group.

A winter route that has not yet returned

In September, SWISS revealed that daily flights between Zurich Airport (ZRH) and Dubai would restart on 27 October using flight numbers LX242 and LX243. The winter service was anticipated to operate mainly with the Airbus A340-300, introducing the carrier’s Premium Economy class to the route. Earlier guidance had already canceled flights for 25 and 26 October due to operational issues. The 23 October update shifts the broader restart to late November.

The updated date arrives just days before SWISS had planned to reinstate its daily link to Dubai International Airport (DXB). This also highlights a key point for travelers: a route or fare can still appear on a booking site even after the airline alters its intended operating date.

Rebooking and refunds for affected travelers

SWISS states that passengers impacted by the delay will receive direct communication and be offered flexible rebooking choices or a full refund. The airline’s current advisory urges travelers to verify their flight status before departing for the airport and to ensure contact details are current for timely updates.

The airline notes that cancellations may be managed via an automatic rebooking process, allowing passengers to review or modify their bookings online. Those who booked through a tour operator or agency should reach out to their provider. For travelers with connecting flights, lodging, or other prepaid services, the new schedule requires confirming the full itinerary rather than trusting the original departure date.

Dubai fares remain displayed, but schedules take priority

As of this update, SWISS’s Dubai page still lists starting fares of CHF 330 from Geneva and CHF 332 from Zurich, alongside examples of late-October departures. These prices are website-published starting rates, not confirmed fares or proof that a specific SWISS-operated flight will depart on those dates.
